Phenomenon Susan Boyle
is nata una stella.
Nubile, ugly and clumsy, Susan elicited chuckles of derision among jurors and spectators when they climbed onto the stage, but soon began to sing a miracle happened, his voice has conquered all, and soon became a phenomenon on the Internet, smashing all previous records: no video had never been seen by many people in so little time. "It is five times more popular than Barack Obama," wrote the tabloid in London, by comparison with the 18 million people who watched the opening ceremony of the first black president in history.
Anyone can do the test by typing its name on Google and looking at the three minutes of his interpretation: it is tempting to sneer at the beginning, the end is impossible not to have tears in their eyes. "It is a parable of our time," the Guardian newspaper, but what does that mean? Some say it is simply an extraordinary voice. Others argue that it is the old tale of the ugly anattrocolo, the frog turned into a prince (or princess), or that would be the contrast between his appearance and his voice to attract a morbid curiosity about Susan. "It's like the cartoon ogre Shrek," joked Rosie O'Donnell, a bad American radio talk-show.
All, however, recognize that what happened is proof of the ever increasing power of the Internet. "In our era everyone is entitled to fifteen minutes of fame, Andy Warhol sentenced in the eighties, but now three minutes of fame, thanks to the hype of the web, TV and Planetary YouTube can quickly turn a no man or the most famous woman on the planet.
And she, who lived alone with his cat, a collection of old LPs and the dream of becoming a singer, how it reacts to 100 million fan, 60 interviews in one week, calls on Larry King and Oprah Winfrey Show in the U.S., the proposed contract by a record company, the offer of a producer of porn movies ready to give € 800 000 for "lost virginity "in front of a camera?
"I'm happy as I am, although when I watched the video of my song I thought I look like a garage and I felt mortified," he says from his house in Blackburn. "But did not expect to be able to touch so many people see me and I was moved too. As a young peers made fun of me, and their comments were burning, ma ora sono tutti gentili. Ridevano di me, ma ride bene chi ride ultimo, no?
