Gli spagnoli continuano a premere, ma la Juve sa difendersi senza andare in bambola e quando può riesce a rendersi pericolosa in contropiede. Van Nistelrooy in girata e Diarra di testa vanno vicini al pareggio prima dell'intervallo.
La pressione del Real Madrid aumenta d'intensità nel primo quarto d'ora della ripresa, ma Chiellini e Legrottaglie fermano in ogni maniera Raul e Van Nistelrooy e Mellberg, ripresosi bene dalla contusione al ginocchio accusata a fine primo tempo, riesce ad arginare Drenthe. Non appena cala il ritmo, la Juve ne approfitta per assestare il colpo del ko. Al 67' Casillas piazza malissimo la barriera, troppo centrale, e Del Piero la aggira facilmente mirando ancora l'angolo basso.
Il raddoppio bianconero gela il pubblico del Bernabeu, che perde ogni speranza sull'werrore di sottoporta al 70' di Higuain, da poco subentrato a Sneijder. Ranieri toglie Amauri e inserisce Iaquinta e il calabrese serve a Del Piero un pallone che per pochi centimetri non entra sul secondo palo, per quella che sarebbe stata addirittura la tripletta. Ma nella classica ottima prestazione di Ronaldinho (con assist annesso), c'è anche un clamoroso errore dal dischetto. Talmente clamoroso che la Gazzetta ha utilizzato il fotogramma dell'errore di Ronaldinho come "foto della settimana", e i telecronisti di Sky hanno commentato con un "anche gli Dei a volte sbagliano". A memoria d'uomo si ricordano forse un paio di errori dal dischetto da parte di Ronaldinho (in oltre 10 anni di carriera da professionista and a 50in rigors of the shoulders).
